  • Tech Open: October 18th and 19th. If you can make it, please go to Ask Fred and preregister, as it gives us a better idea of how many people to plan for and also attracts more fencers to the event. Preregistering also save you $5, so everybody wins!

Tryouts??
Every year the VTFC selects a group of fencers to represent Virginia Tech at collegiate competitions. This usually involves a lot of travel, but also a lot of good fencing and trophies! Of all the fencers trying out, 3 will be selected for each weapon squad for a total of 9 fencers, plus 1-2 alternates per squad.
Can I Tryout?
Any student (graduate or undergraduate) can try out, so long as 1) they are a member of the club (paid dues & filled out the Assumption of Risk form), and 2) are in good academic standing (2.00+ GPA). However, different competitions have different requirements for who can fence.

Responsibilities
Any fencer thinking of trying out for the team should not take the decision lightly. Every team member is expected to attend most, if not all, of the competitions (see Men's and Women's Team pages). Additionally, each member of the team is expected come to practice and train fairly regularly. We can work with individual's schedules when needed, but do keep this in mind.

Questions?
You can find each team's schedule on their respective page. E-mail the team captains, Jon or Marie if you have any questions.
