- FREE LESSONS & DEMO!:
When: Every Monday & Wednesday @ 7:30pm (Aug. 31 -> Oct. 14), six weeks total.
Where: War Memorial Dance Room.
What: An introduction to fencing essentials, ending with an official Newbie Tournament on October 18th.
Who: Anyone can participate, so long as they are physically able to do so and fill out the above risk form.

- SPRING BREAK: There will be no practice during this week (March 9-13th), as War Memorial will be closed for Spring Break.
- ANNUAL MEETING: The annual meeting is coming up on Wednesday, March 25th, during practice. Nominations for next year's officer corps as well as constitution changes are now open, and shall be voted upon during the annual meeting. All nominations/bylaws are due by email no later than Wednesday, March 18th. In order to vote at the annual meeting, you must be a due-paying "regular" or "associate" member, as defined by the constitution.
- CLINIC:Eric Moret and Jen Lin, our coaching alumni, are going to be in town Thursday, March 19 and Friday, March 20 for a fencing clinic. Thursday will be group coaching and footwork from 8 pm to 11:45 pm. Friday during the day they will offer private lessons; Friday night we'll do some more footwork and group coaching before we do a small tournament (either a free-for-all or a team relay, we haven't decided yet).
The cost is $10 for everything (Thursday evening and Friday lesson and Friday night/tournament) to cover travel cost. This is a very, very reasonable cost for such great coaching.
- BAKE SALE:: table will be outside of McBryde from 8-5 on Tuesday and Wednesday (March 17-18th).
Bake foods to donate to the club, come out and sell at the table, or just show up to buy some of the deliciousness! Good things to bake are muffins, cookies, brownies, cupcakes, banana bread, and any other individually wrapped goodies.

- SOCIAL: Following the Bake Sale on Tues/Wed, on Saturday, March 21st the club will be getting together for either frisbee golf or bowling! Details to follow.

- BEGINNER'S LESSONS AND DEMO: The Beginner's Demo this year was held on Thursday, January 29th. Free lessons will be held every Monday and Wednesday for six weeks after the demo, from 7:30 to 8:30 in the Aerobics room.

- LAST PRACTICE: [Wednesday, Dec. 10] Last Practice of the Year! -- practice will resume after Winter Break.
- END OF YEAR BANQUET: [Thursday, Dec. 11] We're meeting at 6pm in front of War Memorial to carpool over to El Mariachi's.
- JACKETS: If you would like to order one of those snazzy VTFC jackets (with your personalized name/nickname embroidered on the front), we'll be placing the order after we get back from winter break. Current cost -- $100. Please bring a check made out to the Treasurer of Virginia Tech to practice after winter break.

- THANKSGIVING POTLUCK: [Wednesday, Nov. 19] Come join us for our yearly pre-Thanksgiving potluck & movies/games. This year it will be held at M1's place.
- WHITE ELEPHANT: [Saturday, Dec. 6] Come join us for the White Elephant and movie night to be held at Joe's apartment. For more information contact our member-at-large, Suzy.

- HOLLINS: [Monday, Nov. 17] The Hollins fencers will once again be joining us for practice. Since this will NOT also be a day of tryouts, hopefully it will not be as chaotic as last time. If you show up to practice Monday, expect to fence electric with the Hollins girls.
- FENCING CLINIC: [Thursday & Friday, Nov 20-21] Two of our most amazing alumni -- Eric Moret and Jen Lin -- will be in town to host a fencing clinic. Information was sent out over the listserve, but if you have questions, feel free to ask one of the officers.

- DUES: $65/semester, or $120/year for all members (excluding Alumni). You can turn dues in at the Rec Sports office in McComas Hall from 9-5 on weekdays. Due by Monday, October 13th for returning fencers, Monday, October 27th for new fencers.
- TRYOUTS: Men's & Women's Team tryout results have been posted on the team pages. They will be updated again when the squad captains have been selected.

- FENCING DEMO:
When: Monday, Sept. 8th @ 7:30pm.
Where: War Memorial Gym 125.
What: A free demonstration of Olympic-style fencing (epee, foil, sabre) with a bit of history and information about our club.
Who: Everyone! Bring friends and enjoy the show. Stick around afterwards to learn more about our club or begin the six weeks of free beginners' lessons.
