NOMINATIONS FOR NEW OFFICERS

The time to overthrow your officers is at hand...online Nominations for 2003/2004 officers will begin on March 3rd and continue through March 10th (use club's listserv). It will be spring break, but you can always use webmail (wherever you are) to send out your nominations. NO NOMINATIONS will be accepted after March 10th. Nominees must respond to the listserv to announce their acceptance or declination of their nomination during this period of time (3/3 through 3/10).

On March 11th online voting (votes are to be sent to the sergeant-at-arms at rwemhoff@vt.edu ) will begin, and any additional nominations for officers sent to the listserv will be discarded! You only need to vote online if you cannot attend the Spring Club Meeting on March 17th (meeting takes place during practice).

And I will know if you try and vote twice. I am not the state of Florida.

Detailed descriptions and requirements of each officer position are found in the club's constitution via the club's website (link at top of minutes).

Qualifications for Officership

- 2.0000 minimum cumulative GPA or (QCA for us old timers) which reminds me that that needs to be changed in the constitution at the meeting.

- full time undergrad or grad student at VT

- be in good university standing

- a club member

As stated in prior minutes, we may be making changes to the constitution at the meeting. If you have any concerns or questions regarding the constitution, let the officers know ahead of time so we can write them up properly before the meeting. This allows for a quicker meeting so practice can proceed as normal. Also, make sure your concerns are worth the hoo-haa. Minor details based on interpretation is reserved for the opinions of the officers, not club members. In short don't say, "I think this sentence needs a comma." You get the point of my ranting.

I will be sending out e-mails next week, nominations week, and online voting week to keep you all informed during the process. Any questions, let me know. rwemhoff@vt.edu

FOR INTERESTED NEW MEMBERS; DUES

Though they are not due until after the beginner's lessons, dues for the fencing club are $50 for the semester. This will also allow you to check out club gear for the remainder of this school year. Dues will be due on March 17th (same day as club meeting).

ALUMNI TOURNAMENT UPDATE! (courtesy of jen)

The Alumni Tournament is coming up soon, April 26-27, even though you may not think so. The Alumni Tournament is a chance for the current members to beat up the old folks. The tournament is restricted to club members and alumni. Following the first day of the tournament, there will be an Alumni Banquet, held this year at Professional Catering near Foxridge's Food Lion. The fees for the tournament are $10/person for the whole thing. That means no extra charges if you wanted to compete for the iron-man competition (all 3 weapons). The fee for the banquet will be $15/person for club members only. I ask you to RSVP ( jelin@vt.edu ) by March 21st so we can have an exact count of attendants. The RSVP includes your DECISION and MONEY. Remember... MARCH 21ST!!!

MARY WASHINGTON COLLEGE MEET

The men's team may have a chance to fence off against MWC on April 12th. More to come soon...

PICTURES FOR FENCING FILM & EVENT PICTURES FOR WEBSITE

I know you have pictures, and I need them for the fencing video. They can be of whatever theme, as long as they are a)of people in the club b)do not involve alcohol, drugs, yadda , yadda. I have a scanner if the picture is not already in digital format. My connection is a bit slow, so if they're in digital format it would be best to burn them to a cd. E-mail me if you can donate to 'the cause'. rwemhoff@vt.edu

The web monkey is looking for pictures from events, whether it be a social or team event or whatever. He may just give you a banana if you help him out. amarschn@vt.edu

JACKETS

If you would like a VTFC jacket (Jen and Jess especially love them), they will be offered for a discount next fall semester to you if you help volunteer at either the Alumni Tournament or '03 Tech Open. Remember, you will only receive a discount if you help out.

FUNDRAISING

Ok folks, lots of expenses during the upcoming semester (i.e. NCCFC). We need some ideas on club fundraisers. If you think you have a good idea let Jessica know jeball5@vt.edu .
