ELECTIONS UPDATE & ANNUAL MEETING
Alright folks, nominations have concluded this past monday and, once again, here are the nominees for next year's 2003-2004 officerships
PRESIDENT Krista D'Albenzio
VICE PRESIDENT Alex Marschner
TREASURER Jennifer Webster, Laura Golden
SERGEANT-AT-ARMS Phil Eckenrode, Barry Kidd, Mike Maloy
HEAD ARMOURER Anne Kurtz
MEMBER-AT-LARGE Jamie Dalton
HISTORIAN Laura Golden, Kurt Hoffman
Currently we are in the mist off Online Voting. What this means; (1) online vote ONLY if you CANNOT attend the annual meeting this monday 3/17... (2) cast 1 vote for each position and send your completed selection to the Sergeant-At-Arms rwemhoff@vt.edu (3) online voting ends at noon on Monday 3/17... (4) you must have paid dues to be eligible to vote.
Constitution Changes
We have looked at changing a few things in the constitution at this meeting including; (1) listing out requirements for Team Captains in greater detail, (2) implementing a new law for blade breakage, (3) holding a bi-annual meeting in the fall semester. Because these changes should be made and were not written & sent to the listserv ahead time, you may direct your wrath towards me (just remember I have been known to control people's karma). However, because these are the only changes that have been brought to our attention, this is all we will be discussing regarding the constitution at the meeting. Plan accordingly for the next meeting if you want to discuss changes for the constitution, since we like to have some practice time in after the meeting, eh?
Hopefully I can write out these changes and shoot them over the listserv before the meeting on Monday. Also, if you can, RSVP us at the meeting regarding the alumni tournament (see section below "Alumni Tournament Update" for info).
MARY WASHINGTON COLLEGE MEET
Due to scheduling nightmares, we will not be attending it (if it exists) this year.

FOR INTERESTED NEW MEMBERS; DUES
Dues for the fencing club are $50 for the semester. This will also allow you to check out club gear for the remainder of this school year. Dues will be due on March 17th (same day as club meeting, this means you get to vote too).
There will be a Newbie Tournament (during practice) on Friday 3/21 and all beginners are welcome to attend even if dues have not been paid. It will run in traditional USFA style pools followed by a direct elimination round. You will be fencing foil and awards will be given out for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
NCCFC UPDATE
The tournament schedule has changed!! Apparently both guys and gals will fence on saturday in one massive, chaotic, apocalyptic fencing disarray! As a result, everyone will be leaving on friday. Monday classes will not have to be missed since we will be returning sunday evening. Talk to us about any concerns.
SOCIAL!
Social this friday 3/14 at my place, 710 East Roanoke Street. It will start immediately proceeding practice. If you need directions, send me an e-mail rwemhoff@vt.edu .
ALUMNI TOURNAMENT UPDATE! (courtesy of jen)
The Alumni Tournament is coming up soon, April 26-27, even though you may not think so. The Alumni Tournament is a chance for the current members to beat up the old folks. The tournament is restricted to club members and alumni. Following the first day of the tournament, there will be an Alumni Banquet, held this year at Professional Catering near Foxridge's Food Lion. The fees for the tournament are $10/person for the whole thing. That means no extra charges if you wanted to compete for the iron-man competition (all 3 weapons). The fee for the banquet will be $15/person for club members only. I ask you to RSVP ( jelin@vt.edu ) by March 21st so we can have an exact count of attendants. The RSVP includes your DECISION and MONEY. Remember... MARCH 21ST!!!
PICTURES FOR FENCING FILM & EVENT PICTURES FOR WEBSITE
I know you have pictures, and I need them for the fencing video. They can be of whatever theme, as long as they are a)of people in the club b)do not involve alcohol, drugs, yadda , yadda. I have a scanner if the picture is not already in digital format. My connection is a bit slow, so if they're in digital format it would be best to burn them to a cd. E-mail me if you can donate to 'the cause'. rwemhoff@vt.edu
The web monkey is looking for pictures from events, whether it be a social or team event or whatever. He may just give you a banana if you help him out. amarschn@vt.edu
JACKETS
If you would like a VTFC jacket (Jen and Jess especially love them), they will be offered for a discount next fall semester to you if you help volunteer at either the Alumni Tournament or '03 Tech Open. Remember, you will only receive a discount if you help out.
FUNDRAISING
Ok folks, lots of expenses during the upcoming semester (i.e. NCCFC). We need some ideas on club fundraisers. If you think you have a good idea let Jessica know jeball5@vt.edu .
