Virginia Tech Fencing Club Minutes, 10/6/04

Virginia Cup:
Vans have been reserved for next Saturday, October 16, and you?re ready to roll. Meet outside War between 6:30 and 6:45am. Hopefully, you?ll be on the road by 7:30am.

Tryouts:
Men?s Team roster has now been posted to the website.

MACFA Changes:
MACFA has accepted FIE/USFA?s rule changes: turning shoulders is now acceptable and that the maximum foil bend is 1cm. NCAA is still deciding whether to accept the timing changes for boxes. If accepted they will not take effect until the 2005-2006 season. More information on these rule changes can be found at USFA?s website.

Social:
We are planning to play putt-putt this Friday, Oct. 8th. If you need a ride meet in front of War at 6pm. Otherwise, we are meeting at Cox?s Driving Range on Prices Fork Rd at 6:30pm. Try and let Jamie know if you can go beforehand so she has a head count. It will cost about $5. They close at 9pm so we?ll be done about then.

Fall Meeting:
The fall meeting will be held Oct. 20th. Practice will be held after if there is time. Proposed constitution changes were sent out to the listserv for consideration. You also have til Oct. 12th at 11:59pm to nominate someone or yourself as the new Sergeant at Arms. Nominations must be sent to the listserv. The nominee must then accept or decline the nomination on the listserv.

Community Service:
Collection of items for troops in Iraq will continue until Oct. 22nd. We?ve only gotten a few items so far. This is a really way to help out our troops. So next time you go to the store pick up an extra item or two and bring them to practice. If you have a question e-mail Megan.

Fund Raising:
The tables for the 50/50 raffle have been reserved for the drillfield. Tickets will be for $1 and we may be selling hot chocolate and/or doughnuts as well. We still need people to volunteer their time at the tables on Nov. 10th and 11th. The times are from 9:30 to 2. Let James know when you can help out.
