Virginia Tech Fencing Club Minutes, 10/27/04

A meeting was held.

I was there and I took notes.

Enjoy my minutes.

My Monologue:

Alright, folks! This is it, my first set of minutes!  There’s a haiku for all you crazy poetry people and you can take it or leave it.  You’ll probably see some changes in the organization of the minutes, but I’m going to keep them visually looking the same as to not cause too much of an emotional shock!  Also, there is this funky new section called “My Monologue” which is supposed to keep you up to date on everything.  The rest of the email is really just to be used for reference.  On a side note, this is kind of a joke since a monologue is where somebody talks alone on stage in front a lot of people, which is kind of what I’m doing now.  It also kind of implies that I’m talking to myself since nobody reads the minutes but I hope to change that.  I suppose “My Soliloquy” would be more accurate, but hey, I get the alliteration with “monologue.”

Congratulations to everyone who went to the ratings rally at JMU last weekend.  We really showed everyone that VT is quite a formidable fencing force!  Unfortunately the official results haven’t been posted yet, but I can say that we placed very high in each event!  Medals were given!  Ratings were awarded!  Look for that in the next set of minutes.

There is a “Jacket Signup Sheet” on the bulletin board in the dance room.  This is for people who are interested in purchasing an awesome VTFC windbreaker type jacket.  Seriously, the jackets are pretty sweet and they have your name embroidered on the front.  It’s nice for when you’re at tournaments or just on campus to show that you’re in the fencing club!  For those who help out at the Tech Open, you’ll be rewarded with a nice discount should you choose to purchase it this semester.

Also note that we’ve got another potential tournament for you all to go to.  It’s at Mary Washington University (which is adjacent to VMI up in Lexington).  The tournament is individual and all weapons.  It’s on November 20 which is the first day of Thanksgiving break.
